In Search of Future Collaboration - IFOAM – Organics International Received by Mayor of Bonn

Ravi Prasad, Executive Director of IFOAM - Organics International, and Thomas Cierpka, Senior Manager Membership & Operations were invited to visit Katja Dörner, Mayor of Bonn at the City Hall on August 26, 2024. The visit was set up to foster mutual understanding and seek opportunities to deepen collaboration.

Katja Dörner and Ravi Prasad discussed the situation of international non-governmental organisations in Bonn and the city's international status. The Executive Director expressed his gratitude for the support the City of Bonn has provided for the international staff. In return, the mayor showed her recognition for the organisation's decades-long contribution to advocating organic farming, as well as to establishing and propagating the principles of organic agriculture to their current worldwide recognition.

In the future, the mayor saw room for closer collaboration. 'As part of our commitment as an Organic City (Bio-Stadt), we are working to increase the demand for organic products by municipal institutions and people in Bonn, and to bring producers and consumers together more easily. I therefore look forward to further cooperation with IFOAM - Organics International,' the mayor said.

The Executive Director ended the visit with his applause for Bonn as a hub of civil society organisations and signed in the guest book of the city.
