The Observatory participated in the Guangdong Hong Kong inter comparison on ambient gamma radiation measurement

The Guangdong-Hong Kong inter-comparison on ambient gamma radiation measurement, hosted by the China Institute of Atomic Energy, was successfully conducted in Hong Kong from 18 to 20 November 2024. Experts from the Hong Kong Observatory, technical parties in Guangdong province, and the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau participated in the exercise. During the inter-comparison exercise, all experts exchanged views and ideas on various aspects, including radiation monitoring methodology, data quality, technical development, etc., to ensure the reliability of measurement results among the participating parties. The inter-comparison results will be published by the Observatory in the "Summary of Environmental Radiation Monitoring in Hong Kong 2024".

The Observatory will continue to communicate and collaborate closely with different organizations and experts to enhance the capability in radiation monitoring, as well as nuclear emergency preparedness and response.
