EL PASO, TEXAS - On November 15, 2024, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Montana Patrol Station (MPS), in collaboration with the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) and the Special Victims Unit (SVU), held a Lunch with Cops event as part of the "Mentoring Our Future Program. During the event, sergeants, and detectives from the MCU and SVU delivered presentations to students about the units' roles and responsibilities within the Sheriff's Office. The detectives explained investigative procedures related to severe crimes, covering topics such as forensic interviews, search warrants, autopsies, and court procedures. The sergeants and detectives from the MCU and SVU also provided guidance, answered questions, shared stories, and fostered a welcoming environment for students interested in law enforcement. Additionally, the MCU and SVU units generously supplied pizzas, drinks, and snacks for attendees. This relationship-building program is designed to strengthen community partnerships, enhance youth outreach, and provide guidance and support to future law enforcement professionals.
