As temperatures cool, Utilities staff are reminding Sacramento residents and businesses to adjust how often they water their landscapes.
From Nov. 1 to Feb. 28, customers are permitted to use sprinklers once per week on either Saturday or Sunday, at any time of day.
Watering during rain and for 48 hours after is not allowed.
"Some people may even want to consider turning off their automatic sprinklers entirely," said William Granger, the City's water conservation coordinator. "Grass requires significantly less water during the colder months and rainfall is often sufficient to keep lawns healthy."
This change marks a shift from the City's spring and summer watering schedule, which allows residents and businesses to water their landscapes up to two times per week, March through October.
"Overwatering is never allowed, no matter the time of year," said Granger. "This includes allowing water to flow onto sidewalks, into the gutter or forming puddles around your home."
More information about the fall and winter watering schedule can be found on the City's water conservation website.
