Global red meat outlook for 2025

At the beginning of the month, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released its quarterly global livestock and poultry report, which updated the world outlook for red meat supply and demand into 2025.

Looking first at the pork outlook for the coming year, global production is expected to be down just under 1% from 2024 at 115.13 million metric tons. While three of the world's top five producing countries are expected to see pork production increases over the next year, these increases aren't seen as enough to offset expected losses from China and the European Union (EU), who are the world's top two pork producers.

Production in China is seen falling from 56.75 million metric tons in 2024 to 55.5 million in 2025. EU...
