Use the nbn address tool to check whether your new property can connect to the nbn network.
Compare internet plans, check if there are any perks that come with your plan and contact your preferred internet provider to set up your new internet plan, organise your connection to the nbn network and arrange for any nbn equipment to be installed (if needed) at your new property.
Contact your internet provider and let them know you're moving out and when you'll need to close the internet account at your current address. If you're staying with your current provider, they may also be able to arrange the connection at your new address - saving you the hassle of extra life admin.
Leave any nbn supplied equipment at your old address. This equipment is registered to the specific address, so chances are it's not going to work in your new home. And who wants to lug unnecessary items on moving day anyway?
If you do take the equipment with you, you might also make it harder for the new owner, or tenants, to connect to the property you're moving out of - and we all know how hard moving is without the added stress of internet issues. It's also important to note that you can't re-sell the equipment as it is property of the nbn.
If you have your own modem, you can bring that with you, but you'll need to check whether it's compatible with the nbn connection type at your new place. Some internet service providers lock their modems to their network which can make it difficult to connect to the internet. While some modems aren't locked, they may have difficulty performing properly on another network. It's always important to do a device check so that you have the right modem and/or router that's compatible with your nbn connection type.
Check that your nbn connection is working and you're able to connect to the internet. If you're experiencing any issues with your connection, reach out to the provider so they can troubleshoot.
Check whether you're on the right plan for your household's needs. It's no secret that we all use the internet a little bit differently. Whether you're gaming, streaming or have multiple devices running at once, you may notice that once you've settled in, you need to change up the speed of your plan. If you find you need more speed in your new place, reach out to your provider and see what internet plans and offers they have available to you.
