Clarence City Council Mayor Brendan Blomeley today provided clarification in response to the Mercury newspaper article about the AFL/AFLW High Performance Centre in the Rosny Parklands and Charles Hand Park.

"At Monday's Clarence City Council meeting, Councillors endorsed a Motion on Notice from Councillor Mulder to have the option of having the entire AFL/AFLW High Performance Centre included in Rosny Parkland added to council's proposal to the Tasmanian Government to have the Centre located in Rosny," said Mayor Blomeley.

"The option to have the Centre entirely in the Parklands would be a third option in the proposal, alongside the current Rosny Parklands and Charles Hand Park options.

"To be clear, Council has not made a "vow to save" Charles Hand Park and will continue to work with the developer and owner of the Centre, the State Government, to develop a precinct plan for the area.

"Before any decision is made on the position of the High Performance Centre, Council will conduct further community consultation in respect to the concept plans as well as through the planning process."
