Route 318 Bridge Opened to Eastbound Traffic

Route 318 Bridge Opened to Eastbound Traffic

09/20/2024

Both lanes of the new bridge that carries Route 318 over Interstate 376 in Mercer County and all the ramps to highway are opened to traffic.

Today the bridge opened to eastbound traffic. A lane for westbound traffic opened on August 22, 2024.

Work at the bridge will continue. Drivers should be alert for lane closures on I-376 and lane shifts with traffic controlled by flaggers on Route 318.

The Route 318 bridge was closed in December 2023 after being struck by the boom of a truck traveling eastbound on I-376 and sustained substantial damage. An emergency project was initiated to remove and replace the bridge.

Additional information on the Route 318 Bridge Replacement Project is available online at www.penndot.pa.gov/District1 under the Design and Construction Projects link.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
