Meetings in New York continue productively

The visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov to New York to participate in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly continues.

On the sidelines of the session, bilateral meetings were held with the heads of the foreign ministries of the following countries:

Tajikistan, Malaysia, Slovakia, Venezuela, the Republic of Korea, Hungary, Burundi, Kazakhstan, Angola.

Negotiations were held with the leadership of the following structures and organizations: UN Women, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, American Global Strategies, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce, as well as the leadership of Citi, FedEx, Visa, JPMorgan, UrnexBrands, the Minnesota Soybean Producers Association, Thermoplan.

The meetings discussed issues of developing and strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, schedules of upcoming events in various formats, current topics on the regional and global agenda, and much more.

Following the meetings, the following documents were signed:

- Agreement on economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Slovakia;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Hungary on cooperation in Diplomatic Training;

- Joint Communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Burundi.

Minister B.Saidov, together with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs M. Nurtleu, submitted to the UN Secretariat the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the demarcation of the Uzbek-Kazakh state border.

Bakhtiyor Saidov took part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Turkic States, and also delivered a speech at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. In his speech, the Minister called on everyone to work together more closely globally to address pressing issues such as climate change, poverty, and technological inequality.

The following key proposals were announced:
- reforming the international financial system to empower developing nations;

- ensuring safe, accessible digital technologies for all;

- international collaboration to combat climate change, especially in vulnerable regions of Central Asia;

- women and youth empowerment;

- joining our counter-terrorism and anti-corruption efforts;

- enhancing transport corridors and economic ties within Central Asia and beyond;

- expanding Educational center for Afghan citizens in Termez into the Global training center.
