Munising, MICHIGAN - On Saturday, August 17th, from 10am until 4pm, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of continuous service at the Au Sable Light Station.

Parking for the Light Station is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis. Parking areas are located at Hurricane River Day Use Area - a 1.5-mile one-way walk to the Light Station - and at Log Slide - a 2-mile one-way hike to the Light Station.

Visitors are urged not to park, walk, or bicycle on County Road H-58 to reach the Light Station as H-58 has many blind turns and very little shoulder, making it dangerous for pedestrians.

There will be transportation from the Hurricane Day Use Area to the Light Station for those with mobility limitations. This service will be first come, first served.

Special programming will be provided throughout the day beginning at 10am, including lighthouse tower climbs and a special Junior Ranger program. A commemorative ceremony will take place at 2pm on the Light Station grounds. Closed-toed shoes are required for climbing the lighthouse.

All programs are free, though visitors must have a park pass, which can be purchased at park visitor centers or online: https://www.nps.gov/piro/planyourvisit/fees.htm
