Volunteer Drivers Needed for the Kennector Transportation Program

Volunteer drivers are needed for the Kennector, an affordable program for adults in need of transportation. Many residents are unable to drive, therefore they rely on family and friends for grocery shopping, church, running errands, getting to medical appointments or attending social events. Having to depend on favors or the schedules of others is frustrating and contributes to isolation.

The Kennector provides affordable transportation built on a classic neighbor-helping-neighbor model, powered by the kindness and generosity that exists in our three towns. At the heart of this program are trained and vetted volunteer drivers who register for timeslots of their choice to drive a neighbor within our 15 mile service area. Among other qualifications, drivers need to enjoy serving others, as the social contact provided by this service is an important part of this program.

The Kennector has provided over 2,400 ride segments since being launched two years ago proving how valuable the program is to our community. Volunteer drivers are needed now to support our 106 registered riders live an independent life in our community! Learn more about the program by calling (207) 604-1366 or register to volunteer at www.kennebunkmaine.us/Kennector.
