BOLTON, MS - Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a Fiscal Year 2024 grant to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) under the Mental Health Service Professionals Demonstration Program. This program, aimed at addressing the growing need for mental health professionals in schools, is designed to increase the number of school-based mental health service providers in high-need districts. The University of Mississippi Medical Center has been awarded $968,684 under the program's Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Number: 84.184X. This funding will support UMMC's efforts to train and place additional mental health service providers in Mississippi schools, ensuring that students have greater access to vital mental health resources. The Mental Health Service Professionals Demonstration Program seeks to expand the pipeline of trained mental health service providers and increase their presence in high-need schools to improve students' overall well-being and academic success. |
