Rockhampton is set to farewell 2024 and welcome 2025 in dazzling fashion with the New Year's Eve Light Up the Sky fireworks spectacular.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams invites the community to join the festivities at the riverside precinct on New Year's Eve.
"Light Up the Sky is more than just a fireworks display-it's a chance for friends, families, visitors and the whole community to come together and celebrate the start of an exciting new year," Mayor Williams said.
"The event will feature two spectacular fireworks shows, designed to suit all ages. A family-friendly display at 7:30pm offers a colourful start to the evening, perfect for those with earlier bedtimes. At midnight, the sky will ignite once again with a show-stopping finale, marking the official countdown to 2025.
"Attendees are encouraged to make the most of the evening by exploring the CBD's dining options or indulging in treats from pop-up food trucks along Quay Street 4:30pm - 8pm. Whether you're enjoying a casual dinner at the pub or grabbing a quick bite, it's a great way to wrap up the year with family and friends."
Mark your calendar for December 31, 2024, and get ready to light up the night as Rockhampton rings in the new year.

For the safety of event organisers and the community, the below temporary road closures will be in place from 3:00pm Tuesday 31 December 2024 until 12:30am Wednesday 1 January 2025.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution and observe all signs and traffic directions.
Safeguard your furry friends during fireworks by bringing them indoors or to a secure area within your property where they feel at ease. Take the time now to inspect your fence, gates, doors, and windows to prevent any chance of your pet escaping.
For added security, please ensure your pet is wearing a collar with proper identification/registration and is microchipped so that your lost pet can be reunited with you. In case your pet goes missing, contact Council by calling 4932 9000 or visiting www.rrc.qld.gov.au/lostpets.
