Whirlpool Community Golf Event raised $3.2 Million for Southwest Michigan Youth

Whirlpool Corporation recently held the 21st annual Whirlpool Community Charity Golf Event, raising $3.2 million for local youth in their headquarters community. Across two decades the event has raised more than $34 million for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Southwest Michigan, First Tee of Benton Harbor, the local public school foundations of Benton Harbor, Lakeshore and St. Joseph, Mich. positively impacting 10,000 youth.

"Each year we are grateful to the many volunteers, participants and sponsors who help create an event that enables us to consistently support these important youth programs in our community. This is the single largest fundraiser for each of these organizations, and we know the important role it plays in their ability to serve area youth," said Pam Klyn, executive vice president of corporate relations and sustainability for Whirlpool Corporation. "An investment in the young people of this community is an investment in our future, and the support provided from the charity golf event has had an amazing impact on youth programs for over two decades."

More than 800 people came to play across six local golf courses during the two day event. Participants were also invited to a silent auction and a fireside chat with NFL Hall of Famer Charles Woodson and Jay Haas, a highly decorated PGA Champions Tour player.
