Dublin City Council Appoints Janine Thalblum to Fill Vacancy

At its meeting held on Tuesday, June 25, the Dublin City Council appointed Janine Thalblum to Councilmember to fill the vacancy created from the appointment of Michael McCorriston as Mayor. The affirming vote was a 3-1 decision with Councilmember Kashef Qaadri dissenting. Following the vote, Ms. Thalblum was sworn into office. Councilmember Thalblum will serve the remainder of the vacated City Council term, which ends in December 2024.

Councilmember Thalblum, an Army veteran, was previously appointed to serve on the Dublin City Council in 2018, following the passing of former Vice Mayor Don Biddle. She currently serves on the City of Dublin Planning Commission. While on the Planning Commission, Councilmember Thalblum has served as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. Previously, she served as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the City of Dublin's Parks and Community Services Commission. She is also a graduate of Dublin's leadership academy, Inside Dublin, the Dublin Police Services Citizens Academy, and the City's Commercial Development Task Force. She is a former President of Dublin Rotary Club.

"I am honored, once again, to serve on the Dublin City Council. My previous experience on the City Council, and as Chairperson of the Dublin Planning Commission, has given me ample experience to step in and provide a seamless transition."

Councilmember Thalblum and her family have resided in Dublin for 25 years.
