Milwaukee Bucks' Alysha Miller to be honored as Sport Management Alumnus of the Year

KENOSHA, WI- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is pleased to announce the return of Sport Career Day on Friday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Sport and Activity Center. This event includes networking with sports organizations from across Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois, resume reviews, mock interviews, and a panel discussion about internships. This event is open to students and the public.

The event will begin with the Internship Panel from 9-10:15 a.m. Attendees will learn from industry members how to gain an internship, how to succeed as an intern, and how to leverage an internship for a career in sports.

Following the panel, the 2024 UW-Parkside Sport Management Alumnus of the Year Award Alysha Miller will be recognized for success in her career field as well as her contributions back to the program. She is the Milwaukee Bucks senior director of ticket operations and a UW-Parkside class of 2014 alumna.

Miller was named a Ticketing Star 2022 by VenuesNow, a well-respected industry publication. She has given back to the community, including to the Sport Management program and UW-Parkside's students, and has spoken at prior UW-Parkside Sport Management conferences. She has had multiple UW-Parkside alumni and students work in her department at the Bucks.

Bill Miller serves as an associate professor of sport management and department chair in the Health, Kinesiology & Sport Management Department at UW-Parkside. He explains that Alysha Miller is a model UW-Parkside Sport Management Alumni. "We are honored to be able to give Alysha the 2024 UW-Parkside Sport Management Alumnus of the Year Award. She has already achieved a great level of success early in her career with the Milwaukee Bucks. Alysha has also given back to the community, including our UW-Parkside Sport Management program and students," Miller states.

Since 2017, the UW-Parkside Sport Management program has honored its successful alumni by giving them the Sport Management Alumnus of the Year Award. The award was created to recognize the outstanding accomplishments and support for the program by its alumni.

The career fair will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon. This is an opportunity to explore the sports organizations available in Wisconsin and Illinois. Sports organizations will provide information regarding internships, careers, and sports industry advice. This session includes mock interviews and resume reviews. The first 40 students to register and indicate interest by emailing Dr. Megan Parietti at [email protected] will have the opportunity to practice their interview skills with a current sport industry professional. Resume Review is an opportunity for attendees to share and receive a resume review from members of the sports industry.
