BakerHostetler Named Finalist in “Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion” Category of California Legal Awards

BakerHostetler has been named a finalist in the "Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion" category of the California Legal Awards. This award recognizes legal industry players that advance women attorneys, lawyers of color and other underrepresented groups. The focus is not just on initiatives, but concrete results that have meaningful impact in the legal community.

BakerHostetler was recognized for the firm's commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment that actively supports the recruitment, retention and advancement of people of all backgrounds and experiences.

Specifically, the firm received commendation for these initiatives:

  • Implementing the Citizenship Hours program, providing associates with up to 50 hours of billable credit for time spent on advancing the firm's strategic priorities
  • Developing a work allocation program to ensure junior associates have equal access to developmentally rich assignments, strong billable hours, clients and assigning lawyers
  • Offering a comprehensive mentoring program know as BeMentored for associates over the life cycle of their careers to promote professional satisfaction, well-being, training and development and opportunities for advancement
  • Offering cross-office mentoring circles for women lawyers of varying levels of experience and seniority via the Women's Committee to provide professional development and network building opportunities
  • Creating the Paul D. White Diversity Scholars Program as a tribute to the firm's first black partner and a pioneer in the legal profession, which is available to first-year and second-year students
  • Serving as the inaugural sponsor of the RISE program at Georgetown Law, designed to serve incoming JD students historically underrepresented in law school and the legal profession

The awards will take place Oct. 15, 2024, in Los Angeles, California.
