As the temperatures drop this fall, your electric bill should too. Southern California Edison customers will get the second of two California Climate Credits on their October bill. The first credit was given in April. Each is $86, so this year customers will get a credit totaling $172.
The California Climate Credit is funded by the state's Greenhouse Gas Cap-and-Trade Program, aiming to lower greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and other big industries. The program was created by the California Air Resources Board and the credit is managed by the California Public Utilities Commission. Since the program's start, over $14 billion in credits have been given to California households and small businesses by SCE and other California investor-owned utilities.
