SDCI’s Updated Phone System Includes In-Language Support

As part of SDCI's continuing efforts to improve our customers' experience and to make it easier to contact staff, SDCI has updated and improved our main phone number, (206) 684-8600. SDCI's main phone number has new triage phone staff to answer general questions or direct your call to an SDCI expert. You can reach our triage staff 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and 10:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays

With the update to our main phone number, we now offer in-language support for Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese via a phone-based interpretation service. Staff answering the phone can also assist customers in other languages upon request. Interpretation is provided at no cost to our customers.

Our updated phone system includes an improved phone tree to connect callers to SDCI's multiple call centers. By calling one number, (206) 684-8600, you can be quickly connected to:

  • Inspections services to schedule an inspection, ask a general inspection question, or schedule a pre-construction conference
  • The cashier to make a payment
  • Information on how to apply for a self-issued electrical permit or get instructions on how to chat with a permit expert using our virtual ASC
  • A permit expert to ask preliminary application or pre-submittal conference submittal questions
  • Code compliance for general information or to file a complaint
  • Rental housing, landlord, or tenant services
  • The triage team to ask a general question

As a reminder, most of SDCI's services are available online through the Virtual Applicant Services Center. Through the Virtual ASC you can submit an email support ticket or live chat with an expert about permitting process, code requirements, and project-specific questions.
