*UPDATE* MURDER INVESTIGATION ARRESTS – 100 BLOCK OF EAST EAGLE STREET

Today, Long Beach Police Department Chief of Police Wally Hebeish announcedthe arrest of threesuspects responsible for the shooting of Yener HudielRamirez-Mirandaon March 20, 2024.

Through their ongoing investigation and use of security camera footage, Homicide detectives were able to identifythree suspects who were present at the time of the shooting. In collaboration with detectives from the Special Investigations Division, LBPD SWAT Team, and the Huntington Beach Police Department SWAT Team, Homicide detectives locatedthethree suspects and safely arrested them.

Detectives booked the followingthreesuspects:

"Mr. Ramirez-Miranda is the victim of unacceptable gang-related gun violence," said Chief of Police Wally Hebeish. "I believe these arrests demonstrate that our department will never stop working with and for our community. We remain dedicated to our community's safety and to holding individuals accountable for their crimes."

During the arrests, officers recovered multiple firearms. Detectives served search warrants in the cities of Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Lakewood,and Los Angeles.

Homicide detectives believe the suspects fired shots at subjects they believed to be rival gang members. Victim Ramirez-Miranda was an innocent bystander and not involved in gang activity.

Each of the suspects is a gang member and prohibited possessor.

Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office this week.

Homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a male adult that occurred on March 20, 2024,in the 100 block of East Eagle Street.

At approximately 4:05 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of East Eagle Street, regardingmultiple reports of gunshots heard in the area. Uponarrival, officers locateda male adult victim who had sustaineda gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers attemptedlife-saving measures until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injures.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene. Through their preliminary investigation, detectives determined multiple unknown suspects were in the area when at least one of the suspects fired multiple gunshots.The male adult victim was workingdown the blockas a street vendor when he was struck by gunfire.The suspects fled the scene prior to the officers'arrival.

Detectives do not believe the victim had an interaction with any of the suspects at the time of the shooting. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
