Odd/Even Watering observed year-round in Norman

Residents reminded to conserve water as hotter months approach

NORMAN, OKLA. - Our area has seen recent spring rains but the Department of Utilities shares that forecasters are predicting a drier and hotter weather patternthis summer and fall.

Staff has also noticed water demands at levels slightly higher than normal for this time of year. Peaking water demands tax the City's water supply and can create lower water pressure. Water customers should be conscious of water use and practice odd/even watering for outside irrigation and watering practices to reduce the peak effect.

• Under an odd/even watering schedule, houses with addresses ending withan odd number may water on odd-numbered calendar days; houses with addressesending with an even number may water on even-numbered calendar days. An alternating watering schedule significantly reduces the peak effect of everyone wanting to water at the same time. Odd/even irrigation practices and water conservation measures assures there is enough water to maintain system pressures and fight fires.
