Launch Of Online Appointment System, Cessation Of Walk-In Option For Selected Services, And Use Of Formsg For Foreign Driving Licence Conversion Applications

From 29 April 2024, applications for selected traffic-related services will be pivoted online to accord greater convenience to members of the public. The Traffic Police (TP) will launch two initiatives - an online appointment system for selected services, and the use of FormSG for applications to convert foreign driving licences.

Launch of Online Appointment System for Selected Services

The online appointment system will cater to applicants seeking the following services:

  1. Change of driving licence particulars ;

  2. Request for driving licence extract; and

  3. Collection/ cancellation of driving licence .

Members of the public may book, change or cancel their appointments online via the 'e-Services' page at the Singapore Police Force's website. Please refer to the Annex for instructions on how to book an appointment for these services.

Use of FormSG for foreign driving licence conversion applications

With the launch of the online appointment system, applications for the conversion of foreign driving licences will henceforth be processed via FormSG only (https://go.gov.sg/foreign-driving-licence-conversion).This follows a previous trial, announced in July 2022, where holders of Malaysian driving licences could submit their applications for conversion of their foreign driving licences online via FormSG.

Applicants will be updated on the outcome of their applications via email within six weeks from the time of application . Only successful applicants will be given an appointment date and time to finalise the conversion process. During the appointment, applicants will be required to bring their supporting documents (both original and copy) to the TP headquarters for verification.

Transition Period

To ease the transition from walk-in to online services, TP will still allow walk-ins from members of the public for the above-mentioned services from 29 April to 12 May 2024 . Thereafter, all walk-ins will cease, with the exception of long-term visit pass holders who would like to renew or replace their driving licences.

The TP's move towards digitalisation of basic traffic-related services will improve service efficiency by reducing the time taken to apply for and carry out these services. The TP would also like to seek the public's continued understanding as it processes a high volume of applications for conversion of foreign driving licences, and that during the processing, time is required to authenticate the documents and ensure that the conversion eligibility criteria are met.
