NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Clean Up TVA coalition regrets to inform the public that Rally for the Valley has been postponed because of severe weather risk in Nashville today. After months of planning for a robust and impactful event, we are choosing to prioritize public safety in this difficult decision to reschedule the rally for a later date.

The Tennessee Valley has experienced a number of extreme weather events in the last few years that have devastated communities in Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi with flooding and tornado damage. Climate change is increasing these risks for our region, and we call on TVA to do everything possible to mitigate climate warming - starting with canceling its plans to build more than 6 gigawatts of new methane gas plants that will release millions of tons of air emissions across the Valley.

The coalition also calls on TVA to reschedule today's listening session or to plan an additional listening session for members of the public who cannot safely travel to Nashville because of extreme weather. TVA should also reopen the online public comment portal and continue to accept written public input from people who would have otherwise spoken at today's listening session.
