From the Military to Munitions: Meet our veterans

I joined BAE Systems in 2011. Prior to that, I had served for over 30 years in the British Army. My career took me to Berlin (before the Wall came down), Zimbabwe as part of a British Military Training Team, Iraq, Macedonia, Bosnia and Afghanistan. As a logistician, in the Royal Corps of Transport and then the Royal Logistic Corps, I am fully aware of the need for a responsive supply chain that delivers a safe and high quality product. I believe that I am still very much contributing to that supply chain, albeit now, out of uniform.

The JMPT is responsible and accountable for the management and delivery of the Munitions Acquisition Supply Solution (MASS) Programme, which is the contract to supply munitions to the UK Ministry of Defence.
As part of my role, I act as the liaison between the Munitions business and the Front Line Commands of the army. My experience as a veteran gives me the perfect opportunity to work closely with the military ensuring that we have a good understanding of our customer's requirements. I also arrange site visits to give our customers the opportunity to see the quality of our products and speak to our employees first hand.

I see it very much as my role to help the understanding of soldiers, from Private to General, of what lies behind the complex manufacturing processes for our ammunition and to ensure they understand how munitions get from factory to fox hole. The hosting of visits to our sites is very much part of spreading this understanding at all levels across the 'Green Army'.
Outside of work, I continue to raise money for the Army Benevolent fund and the Royal British Legion. I have a brother serving with the Royal Logistic Corps, the same Corps in which I served, and a nephew, commissioned into the Parachute Regiment, who has just returned from an Operational Tour in Afghanistan.
I was extremely proud to serve in the Armed Forces, which left me with irreplaceable memories and lifelong friends.
