Section Line Easement (SLE)s are managed by DNR under AS 38 pursuant to AS 19.30.400. AS 19.10.010 provides the authority for the appropriate development of an SLE for access purposes.

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Caswell Lakes area, Matanuska-Susitna Borough

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Sections 27, 28, 29, 32, 33, and 34 of Township 24 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

EXISTING EASEMENT DESCRIPTION:

• The south 33 feet of Section 29, Township 24 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska
• The south 50 feet of S1/2SE1/4 and the E1/2SW1/4 of Section 28, Township 24 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska
• The south 33 feet of W1/2SW1/4 of Section 28, Township 24 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska
• The south 50 feet of Section 27, Township 24 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska
• The north 50 feet of Section 32, Township 24 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska
• The north 50 feet of Section 33, Township 24 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska
• The north 50 feet of Section 34, Township 24 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The applicant has requested to develop a route that is proposed to be 15 feet in width and 11,352 feet in length, occupying 3.9 acres within an existing section line easement. Development would consist of removing trees and brush, beginning at junction of Parks Highway and Big Timber Road along the southern border of Sections 27, 28, and 29 and northern border of Sections 32, 33, and 34 of Township 24 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska. The applicant has requested a 3-year term for construction and the route is depicted on the attached map.

COMMENTS: Comments should address existing uses of this easement and/or the impact of the proposed development on current or future access uses of this existing easement.

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity.
