Community Development

Art in Motion artist chosen

The Committee on Public Art selected an artist for Art in Motion, Colene Milligan (photos attached). Thank you to the City's Community Partner Josephine County Transit for allowing public art on their bus to be on display throughout the city and Republic Services for their generous continued longtime sponsorship.

Arbor Day

Students from Allen Dale Elementary School gathered near Garrison Field along the Allen Creek Trail on April 16, 2023, to plant a tree during the City's annual Arbor Day celebration. Follow this link for more information.

2023 Water Quality Report

Baker Park Loo

The Loo passed the final inspection and has been turned over to the Parks Department for final preparations before opening to the public (i.e., stocking with toilet paper and hand sanitizer).

Fire Rescue

Ladder Drill

The Ladder Drill at Hillcrest Fire Station emphasizes the need for fast, controlled, and proper placement of ladders on scene. Follow this link to learn more aboutwhy this drill is important.

New Firefighter

Meet Grants Pass Fire Rescue's newest recruit, Dane Dellsite. Dane may be a familiar face to some, as he was a former GPFR student back in 2013-2014. Dane comes to us with experience and the love of serving his community. Dane enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and daughter. When asked about what it means to be a Grants Pass Firefighter, he stated "Delivering the highest level of service to the community and becoming a part of a bigger family."

River rescue training

As the weather warms up, it's easy to forget that the river's embrace conceals a chilly secret: the water temperature remains cold. That's why the Grants Pass Fire Technical Rescue Team immersed themselves in river rescue operations last month. Follow this link for more information and photos.

Police Department

New 911 Dispatcher

Congratulations to Dispatcher Jayde Rossi. Rossi, who graduated from DPSSTclass BT141, will continue her training in-house for several more months. We love having you on our team, Jayde!

Drugs and cash seized

RADE warrant resulted in the seizure of approximately four pounds of fentanyl, approximately $35,000.00 U.S. currency in suspected illegal drug proceeds, 13 firearms, more than 12 ounces of methamphetamine, and an ounce each of cocaine and Psilocybin mushrooms, and other controlled substances.
