Night Work Planned for Santa Rosa Avenue Corridor

After being placed on winter suspension, next week, work will resume on the Santa Rosa Avenue Corridor Improvements project to complete pothole repairs, contour paving to the new pedestrian improvements and completion of the paving over the trenches.

To help expedite the paving process and reduce traffic disruptions, this work is being planned to occur at night on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16 along Santa Rosa Avenue between Sonoma Avenue and Maple Avenue. With this effort completed, the project will be ready for the slurry and final striping; the City is actively scheduling dates for those remaining work items with the contractor and future work will occur during regular business hours. Detours will be in place during the night work, so pay close attention to signage when traveling through the area.

The Santa Rosa Corridor Improvements project is improving existing pedestrian, bike, transit and vehicle facilities along Santa Rosa Avenue between Sonoma Avenue and Maple Avenue. The Complete Street design will add new and enhance existing pedestrian facilities throughout the corridor with bulb outs to reduce pedestrian crossing distance and to improve driver pedestrian visibility. Upgrade pedestrian ramps to current ADA standards. Close gaps in the Class II bike lane network on Santa Rosa Avenue. Prioritize transit movements through the corridor. Maintain existing parking and install landscaped median islands. The project will install streetscape amenities such as pedestrian lighting, benches, and bike racks. Finally, a pavement surface treatment will be applied followed by new pavement striping.
