Color Line resumes operations on the Oslo-Kiel and Sandefjord-Strømstad routes
In light of the Norwegian government's easing of national Covid-19 restrictions, Color Line will resume operations on the Oslo-Kiel and Sandefjord-Strømstad routes. The decision entails that all four idled ships will restart sailings, and that the around 950 employees of the shipping company who at present are temporarily laid off will gradually return to work.
M/S Color Magic will resume operations on the Oslo-Kiel service on 12 February, while M/S Color Fantasy's service on the same route will restart on 25 February. M/S Color Hybrid will resume operations on the Sandefjord-Strømstad route on 9 February, followed by the planned resumption of M/S Color Viking's operations on the same route on 28 February.
Color Line's M/S Superspeed 1 and M/S Superspeed 2 are currently sailing as normal between Kristiansand and Larvik and Hirtshals. Both ships have registered a substantial increase in demand for their critical goods shipment services and are now also experiencing solid growth in demand from Danish winter tourists.
The frequency of ro/ro vessel M/S Color Carrier's sailings on the Oslo-Kiel route has been stepped up to meet the needs of Color Line's logistics customers, and Color Line's total freight capacity on this service will increase substantially once M/S Color Fantasy and M/S Color Magic resume operations. At the same time, Color Line is registering strong interest on the part of German summer tourists and is expecting that further easing of Covid-19 restrictions in Norway and the company's destination countries will contribute to an upturn in demand also on the part of Norwegian customers.
In a normal year, Color Line transports close to four million passengers and 200,000 freight units between Norway and ports in Denmark, Sweden and Germany, based on its four year-round routes and seven ships. The company's booking trend for 2022 is currently at or above the 2019 level.
