Tuli and Agorku Named Civil Engineering Graduate Students of the Year

The College of Engineering's Civil Engineering faculty proudly announces the selection of two Graduate Students of the Year for the academic year 2023-2024.

Farzana Mehzabin Tuli has been honored as the Civil Engineering Ph.D. Student of the Year. Tuli, under the mentorship of Dr. Suman Mitra, has demonstrated exceptional performance throughout her two-year tenure in the program. Her achievements span across research, academics and service, including the authorship or co-authorship of three peer-reviewed journal articles and seven conference presentations. Her academic record is exemplary, reflecting her dedication to a diverse range of coursework. Beyond her scholarly pursuits, Tuli actively engages in service activities, contributing to organizations such as the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) student chapter and the Bangladesh Student Organization.

Geoffery Agorku has been recognized as the Civil Engineering Master's Student of the Year. Agorku, under the guidance of Dr. Sarah Hernandez, has made significant contributions during his 1 ½ years in the MS program. He has co-authored two peer-reviewed journal publications and presented his research findings at various conferences. Agorku's coursework reflects excellence, underscoring his commitment to academic rigor. Additionally, he demonstrates a strong service ethos by actively participating in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) student chapter and engaging with campus cultural groups. Furthermore, he volunteers with several organizations in Fayetteville, showcasing his dedication to community involvement.

The Civil Engineering Department extends heartfelt congratulations to both Tuli and Agorku for their outstanding academic achievements and wishes them continued success in their future endeavors.
