Kubura, Keil Earn Volleyball Magazine Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.
- Florida State volleyball's Milica Kubura and Melanie Keil received honorable mention All-America accolades from Volleyball Magazine on Thursday for their contributions to the Seminoles' success this season.

It marks the fourth postseason award for Kubura, who was recognized as an honorable mention All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), first team All-ACC and AVCA All-East Region since the completion of the regular season. Keil grabbed her second postseason award after receiving AVCA All-East Region honorable mention accolades earlier this month.

Kubura capped off a solid junior campaign by ranking in the top five on the team in seven major categories including kills (376-1st), kills/set (2.98-1st), hitting percentage (.327-2nd), assisted blocks (78-3rd), total blocks (84-3rd), blocks/set (0.67-3rd) and solo blocks (6-4th). Kubura's .327 hitting percentage ranked her eighth in the ACC as the Seminoles closed out the regular season. She was one of two Seminoles, along with Mara Green, to rank in the top 10 of the league in attack percentage.

Keil wrapped up her senior season by ranking among the top four players in the Seminole lineup in seven major categories including solo blocks (27-1st), assisted blocks (167-1st), total blocks (194-1st), blocks/set (1.55-1st), hitting percentage (.256-3rd), service aces (20-4th) and kills (170-5th). She closed out the regular season by ranking second nationally in total blocks (192), nine off the pace set by Ali Bastianelli (Illinois) and had the fifth-best block/set average in the nation as she began the NCAA Tournament (1.59), also behind Bastianelli.

'I'm very proud of both of these young ladies and it is an honor to have players representing our program on the Volleyball Magazine All-American list,' said head coach Chris Poole. 'Milica was a go-to player offensively for us all year and Melanie was among the best blockers in both the ACC and NCAA throughout the season in blocks per set. Both of these young ladies were difference makers for our program.'
